Important Note:
=================

Latest Matrikon OPC Explorer is unable to load configuration XML file if
decimal point in your regional settings is not "." (dot). This nasty bug
will occur if you have German, Italian, Serbian... regional settings and
you use "," instead of "." in your regional settings. American regional
setting does not suffer from this bug. Temporary cure is to set regional
settings to United States, or just put "." as your decimal point.
Matrikon has promissed to solve this bug.

Instructions for use with Matrikon Modbus OPC Server:
=====================================================

1. Upload HEX file to your AVR and test it with Hyper Terminal or
any other similar tool, by typing commands as instructed in the
PAS source file. You have 1 second timeout for typing each character,
so it would be best to use copy/paste. If you receive response, proceed.

2. Download Matrikon OPC Server for Modbus (Plant Based) from
www.matrikon.com/drivers/FreeDownloads.asp. It includes Matrikon
OPC Explorer which is a very nice client for quick data access
testing of any OPC DA server. Installation will also install all
necessary OPC Foundation DLL files and register them.

3. During installation, decide if you want OPC server to be started
as a service or not. If you are not sure if you need it, choose not to.

4. Start server and configure it by loading "Matrikon Modbus OPC server.xml"
configuration file into it.

5. Check if you have AVR device with modbus demo attached to COM2. If not,
modify it in Avrco-com-port.

6. Check if Avrco-com-port and Avrco-device-1 are enabled.

7. You can now exit OPC Server because it will be automatically called
and started by clients when necessary. Your OPC server is ready now.

8. Start Matrikon OPC Explorer and load "AVRco - Matrikon OPC Modbus Server.xml"
into it. Navigate to "Matrikon.OPC.Modbus.1", open group "AVRco Device 1", and
you should now see tags from your AVR device changing every second.
